Helpful Hint: I always buy an extra can of spray paint. Nine times out of ten, I end up using it.

Easy DIY Pumpkin I used traditional orange spray paint for my pumpkin because I was in a hurry to get this done before going out of town, but let your imagination run wild with this project.

I think white with black polka dots would be pretty. Or all black. I once saw a white one covered with strips of book print.  Beautiful!

Max Attacked My Easy DIY Pumpkin (in a nice way)

Side Note:  Max (the dog) grabbed a couple of my canning jar bands before they were dry. Do you notice his teeth marks? He’s on a waiting list (???) for obedience school, but that’s another story for another day.

Obviously, the spray painting takes a few coats and it’s best to let it dry overnight. I spray painted late in the afternoon and put the easy DIY pumpkin together the next morning.

It took about 5 minutes top to string it up and add the cinnamon sticks.

Tips for Making This Easy DIY Pumpkin

Make sure the bands are all facing the same direction.

Run the yarn through the bands and tie.

Space the bands so that it looks like a pumpkin.

Add the cinnamon sticks to the middle. Done!

This pumpkin is a big hit at my house and so ridiculously easy!  I’ll probably be making more pumpkins in different color schemes.

What I like about this one is that it looks like it would last from year to year, instead of falling apart as it gets packed up and unpacked.

And why didn’t you have 20 canning rings laying around!? Jk. This is SO cute and I love love that you used cinnamon sticks in the center.

Maybe I should start canning veggies so I can have lots of lids hanging around. 🙂

Do you have a good use for the bottom of the mason jars?

Reply
Alli September 7, 2016 - 3:49 pm

You can buy the lids without buying the mason jars. That’s what I did for this project. I did do some fall mosaic candy jars that would be a great use for mason jars. Find the post here: https://www.anallievent.com/2015/09/diy-fall-mosaic-candy-jar/
