Is Your Tap Water Safe To Drink?

by Alli

Is your tap water safe to drink?  I recently received a detailed in-home water testing kit and I have to tell you that I was a little bit nervous about what I’d find in my tap water.  I took a deep breath and took the plunge.

What's Hiding in Your Water?

After performing all the tests within that one kit, I was relieved to find that my tap water tested “OK” in every area.

Is Your Tap Water Safe to Drink?

But . . . I don’t drink it.  Ever.  Why?  Because it tastes and smells like chlorine.  I was very surprised that it tested in the acceptable range.

Pfister Filtration System

My refrigerator has a water filter, but filling a glass with water seems to take forever, so I’m constantly buying cases of bottled water.  I’ve never really liked any of the filtration pitchers, etc. that I’ve tried.  Until . . .

Pfister Faucets recently introduced Xtract.  It’s a filtration system that is integrated into a stylish Pfister pull-down kitchen faucet.

The high-flow dual filter system of Xtract delivers great-tasting filtered water and tap water from a single faucet. Filtered water is delivered two times faster than typical water filtration products and the filtration mode is integrated into the handle, eliminating the need for a filter pitcher or separate drinking water faucet.

Xtract uses GE® 2X High Flow Filtration which reduces contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, chlorine, and lead, select pesticides, herbicides and insecticides.  My favorite is that it also removes the chlorine taste and odor.

Another big plus for me is that you can’t even tell that there’s a filtration system in the kitchen faucet.  It’s sleek, modern and really pretty.  You can see photos of the Clarify faucet here.

The list price for the Clarify With Xtractâ„¢ is $442.67.  Once you do the math, you’ll find that the faucet pays for itself vs. buying bottled water for 6 months for an average family of 4.

The Clarify With Xtract™ 1-Handle, Pull- Down Kitchen Faucet is available exclusively at Home Depot in select stores and online.  Watch this funny video for more info!
