Homemade Double Chocolate Chip Brownies

by Alli

I try to eat right 80% of the time, but every once in a while I splurge on Homemade Double Chocolate Chip Brownies.

Brownies are my husband’s very favorite dessert, snack, or whatever you want to call it. How about we call it breakfast? I’ll be the first to admit that it’s happened in my life before, usually on vacation.

I love to use pecans in this recipe. Check out my collection of Best Recipes Featuring Pecans.

Sometimes, I crave chocolate. When the mood strikes, nothing else will do. Since Sunday is my designated dessert day, it’s the perfect time to serve Double Chocolate Chip Brownies. Chocolate on chocolate works for me.

The entire family comes over for Sunday lunch and there are usually no leftovers when it comes to dessert. If a miracle happens and there is a brownie or two left, I send them home with one of the kids. That way I’m not tempted to have a brownie for Monday breakfast. That’s reserved strictly for vacations.

Another thing I like about making brownies is that there’s not a lot of clean-up. Everything is basically dumped into one bowl, stirred together, and baked in a pan. There’s actually an extra step with these brownies, but it’s an easy one.

Double Chocolate Chip Brownies

In a heavy saucepan, melt 1/2 of the chocolate chips and butter on low heat until smooth, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and stir in the eggs, sugar, flour, salt, and baking soda. Add the remaining chocolate chips and pecans (if using). Sometimes I add the nuts and sometimes I leave them out because sometimes I feel like a nut. Sometimes I don’t.

Bake in a 9×13 baking pan at 350º for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out sticky. Let cool and enjoy!

My hubby is a big brownie lover too. He is the chocoholic in our home and usually the one to make the brownies. I think one of his favorite things about making brownies is as you say, hardly any mess! Your recipe sounds yummy with double chocolate!

OMG, those look amazing! The only thing better than brownies are brownies with chocolate chips in them. You can never have too much chocolate.

My daughter makes these for her church group, and they love her for it. In fact, they gave her one of their Kitchen Aid mixers just so she’d keep making them desserts!

Brownies are one of my favorite dishes to make for parties. I like mixing them up between chocolate chips, crumbled whoppers and crumbled butterfingers 🙂

Full on chocoholic here! Alli, these brownies sound incredible. I love ’em thick and fudgy. Have you tried baking this in a 9 inch square pan? I’d love to give it a go! P.S. Brownies and chocolate chip cookies are my favorite nighttime treats, though I’m “training” myself to love muesli half as much.

if this is death by chocolate, then I am ready to go. I used to love these things when I could find them sold individually at a local convenience store. Homemade would be much better.

Although I’m not a chocolate lover I do enjoy a brownie. The thicker the better, but my dessert of choice is the perfect pair for your brownie. Vanilla bean ice cream is my joy.

Hi Alli,
You are from the south and that is good. I pulled a copy of your other Double Chocolate Chip Brownies and they look good also.
Do you know Sue Donaldson from SLO? She is my 2 cousin down the line. Her Mom and my Dad are 1st cousin. They are wonderful people. Her Mom would take in just about anyone and feed anybody. We still miss them but they are home with Jesus.
Hugs,
Becky
