A Favorite Something

by Alli

OK, dear readers of my blog, do you have a favorite something?  Something you use daily?  Something you couldn’t bear to part with?  I do!  I do!

mugIt’s a mug.  It’s this mug!  I drink coffee out of it all year long.  Yes, I’m aware that it is one half of a snowman and that it is 80 degrees outside.

He had a partner that fit right on top of him and created a complete snowman.  His other half, sob sob, died of a broken heart at the hands of daughter #3 or as I now call her, the mug slayer.  Yes, she killed my other favorite mug when she threw him head first into the depths of a hard, empty, stainless steel pit (aka – the sink).

I have lots of mugs and cups.  But I find myself washing this one over and over so that I can reuse it later in the day.  I received the set as a “mug exchange” gift two years ago at a Girlfriends event at our church.  And it was love at first sight.

Daughter #3

Ever since daughter #3 (here is her mug shot – get it?) killed the other mug, the family knows better than to lay a finger on my one-and-only-remaining snowman mug.  He’s mine.  And I love him!

You know who else has a favorite something?  God does!

Galatians 3:9

So then, those who are people of faith are blessed and made happy and favored by God [as partners in fellowship] with the believing and trusting Abraham.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].
Titus 3:3-7

3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

When I miss the mark (sin) I have the confidence that I can boldly go before the throne of grace and receive mercy and help!  It doesn’t get much better than that!
And just as I rewash and reuse my favorite mug, my Father God will wash me white as snow and continue to use me, every single time!  And he will do the same for you.
On this Faithful Friday, I’m thinking about the goodness of God, the favor of God and the faithfulness of God.  God is good . . . all the time!

This is such a sweet message! Thank God for His never-ending mercy, because without it I’d be one lost sheep! God IS good…all the time! 🙂
