Baked Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers

by Alli

Baked Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers are the perfect appetizers! Jalapeno peppers are halved, seeds removed, stuffed with two kinds of cheeses and wrapped in bacon. The cheese is smooth and velvety and the bacon is crispy.  These poppers are always a huge hit at my house.

Jalapeno Poppers are also perfect for game night or a party, especially during the summertime. For this recipe, I’m using fresh peppers from my local farmer’s market.

A few days ago, I served a homemade Tex-Mex meal and served these appetizers. The family kept going back for more while repeating over and over that these were their favorite thing. Then they asked me why I hadn’t made them lately. Calm down, I’ll start making them more.

Ingredients for Baked Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Peppers

This is a simple recipe and you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Jalapeno Peppers
  • Cream cheese
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Bacon
  • Toothpicks

How To Prepare Jalapeno Peppers

For this recipe, you will need to slice the jalapeno peppers in half and scoop out the seeds and membranes. Capsaicin (heat in peppers) is concentrated in the seeds and membranes. Removing the seeds and ribs removes most of the heat.

Please wear disposable food prep gloves while preparing the peppers! If you don’t have any gloves handy, lightly oil your hands with olive oil before preparing peppers. After deseeding the peppers, wash your hands with soap and water.

Note: Do not touch your eyes after handling hot peppers without gloves, even after washing with soap and water. Trust me on this one! Soap and water may not remove all the oils. If you need to, soak hands in milk or yogurt for a couple of minutes before washing hands.

Helpful Hint: You can also make these poppers using baby bell sweet peppers if you don’t like any spice at all.

After the peppers are sliced and deseeded, mix together softened cream cheese and cheddar cheese in a bowl until well combined. Fill each Jalapeno half with the cheese mixture.

Arrange pepper halves on a nonstick baking pan. These are my favorite non-stick baking pans!

Bake at 400º F. for 20-25 minutes or until bacon is crispy.

These Jalapeno Poppers are Also Keto/Low Carb Friendly

Because I’ve skipped the breading (and deep-frying) these poppers are completely keto-friendly. So, if you’re doing low carb, these are perfect for you too!
