Chitchat and DIY Sunday Showcase 05.29

It’s the end of the week/beginning of the week – whatever. Anyhow, welcome to the DIY Sunday Showcase 05.29.

This is the part where I tell you all about what’s happening in my world. Please feel free to leave a comment and tell me what’s happening in yours.

It’s been some week! I’ve always heard that things happen in three’s. I’ve never believed it because I’m not superstitious at all. However, the past three weeks have been wild and wacky and things happened in fours, actually.

During the first week, my mom suddenly passed away. Every morning when I wake up, I think for a second that all is right with the world and then . . . crash, bam, boom . . . it hits me like a ton of bricks. It has to get better.

One week from the day my mom went to heaven, my daughter got married. It was the most beautiful day ever.

The third week, my first cousin died AND I woke up and could barely get out of bed because of lower back pain that sent burning surges down the outside of my left leg. After many x-rays and a MRI, I was diagnosed with one herniated disc and two bulging discs.

I opted to forgo surgery and take the chiropractor route. I’ve started five weeks of extensive treatments for four days a week. Please pray for me. It’s not fun. It hurts. I’m believing for complete and total healing of my body.

I could choose bitter, but I’m choosing better. Life will go on. This too shall pass. And all that jazz.

During this long Memorial Day weekend, please take the time to pause and remember all the men and women who have died so that we can enjoy our freedom.

Meanwhile, you know I love a pretty table setting. If my kids hear me say, “We eat with our eyes first” one more time, they will probably have me committed.

So, my favorites from last week’s party are these folded napkin pockets. The napkins are adorable and the fold is awesome. What a great way to dress up a summer party!
