The football playoffs are right around the corner and I’m a little miffed that my team won’t make it this year.
That’s OK, there’s always next year. I’m a true fan, so I’ll host a playoff party for all my friends and family. I’ll include many of my best game day recipes.
I enjoy watching the game and you’ll never find me in the kitchen missing all the action. That’s why I rely on Tyson® Bone-In Wings (5 lbs) NEW Tequila Lime flavors and State Fair® Mini Corn Dogs to stock my Playoff Party Concession Stand. I add homemade dipping sauces and I’m ready to party.
Sam’s Club is my go-to place for all my playoff party needs. I have a huge family and when we all get together for the big game, I don’t want to run out of food.
I wouldn’t dare throw a football playoff party without Tyson® Bone-In Wings. Who can resist the NEW Tequila Lime flavor? These wings pair perfectly with my homemade guacamole.
Another must-have for my playoff party is State Fair® Mini Corn Dogs! I serve these with my mom’s homemade BBQ sauce. I like to spice things up a little bit. Plus, it’s easy to put together ahead of time and store in the fridge.
When I host a football viewing party, I try to avoid any food items that require a spoon or fork. There’s too much action going on to have to keep up with tableware.
Let’s Make Homemade Guacamole
Fresh guacamole is so easy to make. It’s best prepared an hour before the game. Serve it with Tyson® Bone-In Wings NEW Tequila Lime flavors.
Halve the avocados, remove the pit and scoop out the avocado with a large spoon.
In a medium-sized bowl, add the avocado halves. Squeeze 1/2 lime over avocados and add salt and cumin.
Mash with a fork or potato masher. Stir in tomato, garlic, onion, and cilantro.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve homemade guacamole within two hours of making it. Be sure and place the plastic wrap directly on the guacamole. It will delay the browning process.
Homemade Guacamole
Ingredients
- 4 Avocados, halved and peeled
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 medium onion, diced
- 1 tomato, seeded and chopped
- 1 tsp. minced garlic
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a medium sized bowl, add the avocados. Squeeze 1/2 lime over the avocados. Add salt and ground cumin. Mash with a fork. Stir in tomato, onion, garlic and cilantro. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Homemade BBQ Sauce
Mini corn dogs dipped in homemade BBQ sauce is a huge favorite at my football viewing parties. To make the BBQ sauce, combine 1 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup mustard, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar.
Add a generous amount of black pepper. Mix all the ingredients together and store in the fridge.
Football Playoff Parties don’t have to be complicated or a lot of hard work. Good food, good friends and (hopefully) a good game – that’s all you need for a successful party.

That looks like a great game day setup. I love homemade guac and Tyson Anytizers are always a great choice!
We have plans in place for watching play offs this weekend! I always hate to see football season come to an end. It’s one of my favorite sports to watch. Those Tyson wings are delicious and we’d love some of your Guac! I’m going to Sam’s today so I’m adding to my list now.
This would be perfect for my superbowl party! It has everything that is a finger food so there is less mess and it all looks delicious!
Even though my Bears were pathetic this year, I’m so looking forward to noshing on the couch and watching the NFL playoffs. So many of your recipes are perfect for game day!
I am drooling after reading your post. I love guacamole but am very careful about not eating foods with too many preservatives. Thank you for posting this recipe as I am definitely going to give it a try!

We love guacamole. It’s one of our favorite dips. I love the way you set up your football party. I can’t wait for the Big Game!
I love guacamole and this looks like something I need to make tonight. I love all the easy foods for party time and know what I will be picking up when I am at the grocery next.
These are two of my hubby’s favorite all-year-round snacks, not just at playoff time! I’d have to talk him into the guacamole, though. Maybe if I don’t tell him there’s any avocado…I’ll just tell him it’s dip… 🙂
Hi Alli,
Our team might just make it! We love to have a super bowl party and Sam’s Club would definitely be my go to place for appetizers! Unfortunately this year its about a week before my husband’s back surgery, so we may not do it. Its so fun!
