Have you checked the prices on holiday wreaths lately? Some of them are outrageously expensive and aren’t even pretty! So, I decided to make an Easy DIY Christmas Wreath. I’m really liking how this turned out!
When it comes to decor, I’m going through a “simple is better”  phase. I just don’t like over-the-top decor, so this plaid ribbon wreath fits my style just fine.
Before we jump into making a wreath, welcome to day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop!

If you have a foam wreath, holiday ribbon and berry stems left over from last year, it’s even better. If not, you can get them at Hobby Lobby. In case they’re not 40% off, remember to grab the coupon on your phone while waiting in the long holiday checkout line.
You can also check your local dollar store for floral supplies!
Easy DIY Christmas Wreath
You’ll need:
- foam wreath (mine is 14 inches)
- Ribbon (enough to cover wreath)
- Poinsettia flower
- Berry Stems and background filler of your choice (pinecones, greenery, etc.)
- floral pins
Start wrapping the foam wreath with the ribbon, overlapping and pulling the ribbon tightly as you go. Insert a floral pin through the ribbon and into the foam wreath when you first start wrapping.
Once the foam wreath is wrapped entirely with ribbon, start adding your background fillers. I use several floral pins to secure each stem to the wreath. You can also use a hot glue gun instead of the floral pins.
Add your poinsettia flower and you’re done.
Helpful Hint: Originally, I intended for the poinsettia decor to be on one side of the wreath but it made it too heavy (duh) and the wreath wouldn’t stay in the right position. I turned the wreath so that the poinsettia was on the bottom and all is right with the world.
There you have it – an easy DIY Christmas Wreath! Wasn’t that simple? Plus, you can put your own spin on the wreath with your choice of ribbon and floral garnishes.
P.S. – This wreath is hanging on my front door in the photos, but that’s not where it’s hanging now. Be sure and stop back by on Day 11 to see what I did with this wreath.Â
Don’t forget to Pin It!
