I haven’t done a hit or miss lately, so I thought I would kick things off with this Hit or Miss Valentine’s Day Wreath.
I don’t usually decorate very much for Valentine’s Day. Â If my husband and I will be home that day, I make a special meal complete with a romantic tablescape. Â You can find my special Valentine’s Day menus, complete with recipes here, here and here.
A few days ago I was in Hobby Lobby and saw some little pom poms and I decided I would make a Be My Valentine Wreath for the front door. Â I’ve seen wreaths made from poms lots of times, but I’ve never made one.
I also saw the cutest little sign that said “kisses – 25 cents.” Â I grabbed it and then quickly put it back (do you ever do that?) on the shelf because I had a sudden, twisted thought cross my mind of the UPS or FedEx man seeing that sign and greeting me with a great big kiss. Back on the shelf it went.
I did grab a little Valentine heart and some ribbon. Â As soon as I returned home I plugged in the hot glue gun and went to work. Â I didn’t even burn myself this time. Â It’s a miracle!
I bought red, white and pink poms. Â I didn’t want just red and white because it would look like I forgot to take my Christmas wreath down. Â I didn’t want pink and white because it would look like a baby girl announcement wreath and I didn’t want to cause a 10 car pileup in front of my house. Â So I decided to combine the three colors.
I noticed that the red poms were not as large as the white or pink so I created a pattern. Â Before long, that pattern was all mixed up and had gone off the deep end.
Was it a hit or miss?
When I first began hot gluing the poms onto the styrofoam wreath, I thought it was going to be a hot mess.
I have mixed feelings about the finished project. Â Everyone that has seen it said they liked it. I’m not 100% pleased with it, but that could just be that perfection thing I have to deal with trying to rear it’s ugly head.
Looking back I wish I had used a different placement pattern or maybe used all pink or all white. My daughter wants me to make her one and I think I’m going to use all pink on hers. Â I’ll let you know how it goes.
What do you think? Â Should I go all white or all pink on the next one?

Super cute! Definitely a hit!
For a minute there I thought you spend your day making all the pom poms {that takes FORever}! I love that you used store bought ones.

Thanks, Ashley. I thought about making my own (they are so pretty) but you are right, that would have taken all day long. 🙂
You are so funny! I vote it is a hit. It looks lovely. You are probably looking at it with a critical eye. I just see cute. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, I guess I do have a critical eye when it comes to something I make. I’m much better at tablescapes than crafts. The red is sorta weird to me. 🙂
It’s really pretty and screams Valentines! You are being too critical of yourself. Come back and update with pictures of the one you make for your daughter! I want to see!
I will, Shirley! I promise.
This is really cute! I like the multi colors, and I like it when things get a little off pattern! Sounds like your daughter has a fun project to look forward to!
I’d say that is a HIT. I love it, its very cute. I need to break out my craft supplies! I love to create and haven’t been doing that near as much as I’d like!
Adorable! I might try doing an Easter version of this wreath. The pom poms remind me of bunny tails!
Tracy, I thought the same thing about the bunny tails! Glad I’m not alone on that one. Easter would be really cute and the poms come in so many different colors.
this is a hit!! I love the color combination just the way it is. I’m putting this on the to-do list for my 12y/o and me to do this weekend. BTW- you had me laughing out loud at the kisses sign. I do stuff like that all the time so I totally get it. Thanks for sharing. Pinned!

Definitely a hit! I absolutely love it. It’s a great DIY to get the kids involved.
This is so adorable! I wish I was the least bit crafty so I could make some home decorations instead of spending so much money to buy everything premade!

It’s a hit! Love it. Definitely could do for other holidays in other colors. Great idea.
It is definitely cute. I would never be able to make this.
I am SO not crafty, but I thankfully have friends who are. This post has given great ideas for decorating the classroom.

I love how you share your thought process with the colour choice! I can see exactly what you mean, I love the three colours together and with the dangling heart in the middle there can be no doubting it is a valentines wreath! (a lovely baby announcement idea though!)
How adorable – and looks really easy to make. I love it!! #HomeMattersParty
I’m loving this even more the second time around. thanks so much for sharing at Oh My Heartsie Girls WW. 🙂

I love the mixed colors and I like the irregular pattern. I don’t think you should do all white, too snowy. The all pink sounds cute.
I love this Valentine’s wreath! I would love it if you would stop by and share tonight at 10pm at the Totally Terrific Tuesday Link Party!
Thanks, Christie. I will!
I think it’s a hit. I love the use of three colors. It’s bold and soft at the same time. I’m laughing over your thoughts about using the kisses for .25 sign.
Super cute Valentine’s wreath! Thanks for sharing with us at the #HomeMattersParty. We hope you’ll party with us again this Friday.

How cute and it looks easy to make, too!! #SCBH2015
Your wreath turned out so cute. I’ve been wanting to make a pom pom wreath and it’s on my very long list of projects 🙂
I love your pom pom wreath! I was going to stop making pom pom wreaths (I made two for Christmas), but now I think I have to make a Valentine’s Day pom pom wreath!
Thanks, Lauren! It was my first. Do you make your pom poms as well? (I obviously did not) I’ve seen so many beautiful wreaths with homemade pom poms. I was just too lazy. 🙂
