Are you the boss or a burned out employee?  Promote teamwork with these Four Fun & Useful Trip Ideas for Employees.

While some people think that business outings are a waste of time and that companies would make more forcing employees to spend the day working, outings have a number of benefits. Those outings allow workers to stretch their legs and get out of the office for a while to prevent burning out. Workers also view those trips as a reward for the hard work they did. Many companies find that the right trips can foster a sense of community, build teamwork and help employees in other ways. You’ll discover those benefits for yourself when you choose the right trip ideas for your workers.

Four Fun & Useful Trip Ideas for Employees

Scavenger Hunt

One of the easiest and most affordable outings for your whole office is a simple scavenger hunt. Divide workers into several small teams, give them a list of things to find around the city and reward the first team who makes it back with a completed list. A photo scavenger hunt is another fun idea. You give the teams lists of actions and activities that they must do around the city. They take photos of themselves doing everything on the list before coming back to the office.

Volunteer Together

No matter where you live, there are likely dozens of volunteer opportunities open to your office or workplace. You might all work together in a soup kitchen, help build a house with Habitat for Humanity or volunteer to tutor school children. Depending on how much time you want to spend, you may look at programs that take your workers to a new city or country for a weekend or an entire week to help those in need. Volunteering encourages your employees to work together towards a common goal.

Go Hiking and Camping

Taking your workers on a hiking and camping trip is a great way to foster teamwork and ensure everyone works together. While Wesley Edens took things to another level with a mountaintop exploration, you can stay a little close to home. Rent a few campsites at a state park, organize who will bring what camping supplies and plan the trip for a weekend away from the office. Between roasting marshmallows, singing songs, cooking, and hiking, your workers will feel the stresses of office life wash away from them.

Hit the Field

Another day at the office is anything but ordinary when you host games and athletic competitions between your workers. Divide the office into two teams, create a series of fun games and activities and let your workers fight it out on the field or the court. Volleyball, basketball, and softball are just a few of the sports you can play together. You can even award prizes to the team who wins each competition.

Have Fun!

Though some think of expensive trips when they think of office outings, you can still have fun and foster teamwork and community without traveling too far. Try camping and hiking, volunteering, playing games or creating a scavenger hunt for your employees.

If you’re the boss, how do you foster teamwork?  If you’re an employee, does your boss provide office outings?
