Coffee Bar Care Package

This post, Coffee Bar Care Package, is sponsored by Lunchbox.  All opinions expressed are my own.

I remember the day I left my oldest daughter at college for her freshman year.  It was so hard to be brave and not give in to the tears that were threatening to spill over.  I was determined not to cry as we hugged goodbye. But, I cried halfway home.

Then it dawned on me that in a few short years I’d be redecorating her bedroom and turning it into a craft room.  I perked right up.

One of the best ways I’ve found to show a college student you’re thinking of them is a care package.  When I was in Walmart the other day, I saw an entire Keurig display geared specifically toward college kids, so I thought I’d create a coffee bar care package and show you how fun and easy it is to make your college kid feel special.

Before I show you everything I included in the coffee bar care package, I have to ask you one question:  Have you seen the gorgeous colors of the Keurig K200 Brewing System? My favorite is Beach Bum.

Care Package for College Students

I do believe that The Keurig® K200 Brewing System was designed with college students in mind.  They can easily make all their favorite hot or cold beverages with the push of a button. Whether they need a pick-me-up or something to help them decompress from studying, the Keurig® K200 Brewing System is a college must-have. It’s perfect for a student on a budget because it’s less expensive than going to a coffee shop every day. And it’s being offered at Walmart for a special everyday low price.

When you visit Walmart, you’ll not only get tips to build a dorm room coffee bar, but you can also sign up for a FREE K-Cup® pod sample pack. In the sample pack, you will receive four $1 off coupons so you can help them stock up on a variety of beverages.

For my care package, I chose Lipton® Refresh Iced Sweet Tea because we southerners can’t live without iced tea. The Original Donut-Shop DECAF coffee is for those times when a college student actually needs to sleep.  A pretty mug is essential for a dorm room and a couple of microfiber cloths will help keep the coffee bar area neat and tidy.

I also grabbed a bottle of Keurig descaling solution to extend the life of that beautiful Keurig brewing system. Most college kids have never cleaned a brewing machine before.

Homemade chocolate-dipped spoons will add a hint of chocolate to that cup of coffee. It also adds a personal touch. The pretty box will keep everything organized.

You had me at chocolate covered spoons. I recall having to burn the midnight oil just to get through writing my papers. This coffee care package is a pretty genius idea! I will definitely have to get a coffee package to our new college student.

Annemarie LeBlanc August 26, 2015 - 8:20 am

Any college student that would have their own Keurig is definitely lucky. I wish I had my own coffee maker in my dorm room when I was in college!

What a great idea for a college student! I have not seen this new system but then again, I haven’t been to Walmart in like 2 weeks. Long time for Walmart-I know! I love the added chocolate dipped spoons for stirring. And your craft room idea is funny!

That is a fantastic idea. That’s the cutest little coffee maker, and caffeine is always welcome in college.

lisa @bitesforbabies August 26, 2015 - 4:44 pm

Those are too cute…I’m not in college but I want one for myself! Our espresso machine just broke so this would be a good substitute! 😉

Alli August 27, 2015 - 5:11 pm

We have a Keurig, but it’s the basic silver/black. I’m trying to figure out how to get one of the cool colors. It would be so pretty on my desk.

Tracy @ Ascending Butterfly August 27, 2015 - 2:36 pm

I swear I must be the only blogger on the planet not powered by coffee, I don’t drink coffee or tea, but that is a cute gift idea! I will keep the chocolate covered spoons for myself though! LOL 🙂

Alli August 27, 2015 - 5:10 pm

My daughter and husband are crazy for coffee. I only drink decaf. 🙂 Good thing Keurig has decaf.

Ann Bacciaglia August 27, 2015 - 2:54 pm

This would be great for my Daughter. She is moving into her Dorm room for her first year of college.

I live in a rural area with well water. De scaling my K cup machine is a common occurrence here. I love the idea of a coffee and tea k cup gift package?

Kate August 27, 2015 - 4:27 pm

Super idea. I did see soup pods in the store. Can’t remember brand or soup kind but I though to myself then what a great idea. Thanks for adding the recipe for the yummy spoons as a bonus 😉

Alli August 29, 2015 - 6:48 am

I haven’t seen the soup pods yet. Why didn’t I think of that??? 🙂 Amazing!

HilLesha August 28, 2015 - 2:51 am

A coffee lover would easily want to have something like this. What a wonderful idea!

Yona Williams August 28, 2015 - 12:33 pm

This is such a clever care package idea – I would have loved it when I was in college. I actually need to get some of that descaling solution. I usually descale using vinegar so it would be nice to see how that works.

Crystal Nell August 28, 2015 - 10:31 pm

I just left my baby girl at college for the first time last week. I cried all the way to the car and half way home (so did my hubby). I’m putting together a care package to send her next week so this post is great. She has a keurig that we got her for Christmas. I’m so getting her the tea k-cups because she loves sweet tea as any southern does 🙂 Thanks for the great idea!!

Alli August 29, 2015 - 6:44 am

I cried every single time I left one of my kids at college. 🙂 I thought it would get easier, but it didn’t. My youngest daughter is getting married in May and I’m been telling myself that I’m not going to be a blubbering fool on her special day.

Ashleigh Walls August 29, 2015 - 5:19 pm

A coffee bar package is the perfect idea for a college student! I remember all the late nights I stayed up writing essays.

Erin August 29, 2015 - 6:09 pm

What! How awesome is this! I wish I would have thought of this for my sister but she just graduated. Sigh! Next time… she’s already talking about going back 😉

becka August 30, 2015 - 3:42 pm

I truly do not know what I would do without my Keurig. I would love to get this gift right now so I know any college kid would be happy to get it! 🙂 Love the chocolate spoons, we usually make them around Christmas and give them out with Hot Chocolate. 🙂

Adrienne August 30, 2015 - 7:49 pm

I could have used a coffee bar when I was in college. This is such a great idea. Little care packages are so nice to give and fun to put together!

CourtneyLynne August 31, 2015 - 2:30 pm

Omg I had no idea kerigs came in all different colors these days! How fun! Makes my plain black one really look super plain lol

Marcus DelFino April 1, 2017 - 7:12 pm

That pod sample basket sounds absolutely perfect for my little sister who’s heading off to college! She was worried that she’d be confined to “cafeteria coffee”, but I think I’ll surprise her with something like this! 🙂

Meredith Katz May 4, 2017 - 11:39 am

These little packs are so fun, and it’s a great reminder that you don’t need a whole bunch of heavy, expensive equipment to enjoy a cup of coffee. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
