Peanut Butter & Softened Butter

The star of these cookies is undoubtedly the peanut butter. It is what gives the cookie its nutty flavor and moist texture. When choosing a peanut butter, it is essential to select a creamy, smooth peanut butter that is not too oily. Natural peanut butter can be used, but it may affect the texture and flavor of the cookie.

Hershey’s Kisses

The classic Hershey’s Kiss is what makes these cookies so iconic. The milk chocolate center pairs perfectly with the peanut butter flavor.

Flour and Baking Soda

The flour and leavening agents are what give the cookie its structure and lift. All-purpose flour is used in this recipe, and baking soda is used as the leavening agent. Measure the flour accurately and do not overmix the dough to prevent the cookies from becoming tough.

Sugars

Both granulated sugar and brown sugar are used in this recipe. The granulated sugar adds sweetness, while the brown sugar adds a hint of caramel flavor and helps keep the cookies moist. Measure the sugars accurately and don’t overmix the dough to prevent the cookies from spreading too much.

Eggs and Vanilla Extract

The eggs and vanilla extract are used to add flavor and moisture to the cookie.  Make sure you use room-temperature eggs and high-quality vanilla extract for the best results.

Overall, each ingredient is essential in creating the perfect Classic Peanut Butter Blossoms with Hershey’s Kisses. By using high-quality ingredients and following the recipe carefully, anyone can make these iconic cookies at home.

Baking Tools and Equipment

To make Classic Peanut Butter Blossoms with Hershey’s Kisses, you will need some basic baking tools and equipment. Here are some essential items that will make your baking process smoother and more efficient:

Measuring Cups and Spoons

Accurate measurements are crucial in baking. A set of measuring cups and spoons is essential to ensure that you add the right amount of each ingredient. Make sure to use dry measuring cups for dry ingredients and liquid measuring cups for wet ingredients.

Mixing Bowls

Mixing bowls are used to combine ingredients and mix them thoroughly. It’s best to have a variety of sizes so that you can use the appropriate size for the amount of ingredients you’re working with.

For this recipe, I use the bowl of my stand mixer and a medium-sized bowl to mix the flour and baking soda in before adding to the wet ingredients.

Electric Mixer

An electric mixer is a great tool to have, especially when making dough or batter. It saves time and effort and ensures that the ingredients are mixed evenly. I like to use my stand mixer.

However, if you don’t have an electric mixer, you can still make Peanut Butter Blossoms by using a wooden spoon or a hand-held whisk.

Baking Sheets

Baking sheets are used to bake cookies, and they come in various sizes. Make sure to line it with parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent the cookies from sticking.

Cooling Rack

A cooling rack is used to cool the cookies after they are baked. It allows air to circulate and will prevent them from becoming soggy.

Hershey’s Kisses

Finally, you will need Hershey’s Kisses to top off your Peanut Butter Blossoms. Make sure to have enough on hand, as they tend to disappear quickly!

To make Classic Peanut Butter Blossoms With Hershey’s Kisses, the first step is to mix the dough.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll them in granulated sugar until they are fully coated. Place the balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.

Storage Tips

To keep Classic Peanut Butter Blossoms with Hershey’s Kisses fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature. These cookies can be stored for up to a week. If you want to store them for a longer period, you can freeze them for up to three months.

When freezing the cookies, make sure to wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. To thaw the cookies, remove them from the freezer and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.

It is important to note that the texture of the cookies may change slightly after being frozen. They may become slightly softer or crumbly. However, the flavor will still be delicious.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

When making Peanut Butter Blossoms, there are a few common mistakes that can easily be avoided with some attention to detail. Here are some tips to ensure your cookies turn out perfectly every time:

  1. Overbaking: One of the most common mistakes when making Peanut Butter Blossoms is overbaking the cookies. It’s important to remember that the cookies will continue to cook even after they are removed from the oven. To avoid this mistake, set a timer for the minimum recommended baking time and check the cookies regularly. The cookies should be lightly golden brown on the bottom and still slightly soft to the touch when they are done.
  2. Using the wrong type of peanut butter: Not all peanut butter is created equal. It can affect the texture and taste of your cookies. It’s best to use a good brand of creamy peanut butter.
  3. Not chilling the dough: Chilling the dough is an important step in making Peanut Butter Blossoms. It helps the cookies keep their shape and prevents them from spreading too much during baking. If you skip this step, your cookies may end up flat and crispy instead of soft and chewy.
  4. Placing the Hershey’s Kisses too soon: It’s important to wait until the cookies have cooled slightly before placing the Hershey’s Kisses on top. If you place them too soon, they will melt and lose their shape. Wait until the cookies have cooled for about 5 minutes before gently pressing the Hershey’s Kisses into the center of each cookie.

By avoiding these common mistakes, you can ensure that your Classic Peanut Butter Blossoms with Hershey’s Kisses turn out perfectly every time. Happy baking!
