What Does This Free Printable Thanksgiving Day Charades Include?

Thanksgiving Charades includes 30 beautiful charade cards and even some blank cards to add more Thanksgiving related words.

And in case you forgot how to play, here’s a little refresher course.

How To Play Thanksgiving Charades

Charades is a  fun game for all ages. It involves acting out words or phrases written on a slip of paper. The object is to get your team to guess the answer using gestures alone.

Remember this rule: When a player is acting out the word, she is not allowed to talk!

After you print the game (you can print it out below) cut the 30 cards apart.

You will also need:

  • a scorekeeper (to make things fair) with a pad and pen or app on their phone to keep score
  • a stopwatch (or the clock app on a mobile phone)
  • two baskets to hold the cards

Divide players into two teams.

Divide the cards (15 for each team) and put them into two baskets.

Agree on how many rounds you will play and agree on what hand motions, etc. are allowed.

To play the game, a player from team A draws a card from team B’s basket. She does not show the card to her teammates!

After she reads the word on the card, she has three minutes to act out the word to her team. (You don’t even have to keep time if you don’t mind how long the game goes)

If your team guesses the answer, you get one point. If your team doesn’t guess the answer and you run out of time, you don’t get a point.

After team A goes, team B’ gets a turn.

If you’re having lots of fun, don’t stop when you run out of cards. Grab the blank cards and add new words.

Common Gestures in the Game of Charades

  • A number of fingers, in the beginning, gives the number of words.
  • Pointing at or tugging on an earlobe means “sounds like.”
  • Moving hands closer together without touching means shorter.
