The grandkids love french fries and when we’re having a slumber party at my house, I make sure I have plenty of frozen fries on hand so that I can easily cook them in the air fryer.

These fries taste just like they were deep-fried in oil, but they’re not. I love that you don’t need any oil or cooking spray to make these fries.

You can indulge without feeling the guilt of eating fried foods. Pass the ketchup!

Only Ingredient You’ll Need To Make Easy Air Fryer French Fries

Directions For Making Easy Air Fryer French Fries (full printable recipe card down below)

Preheat the air fryer to 400º F.

Add the fries to the air fryer basket. Make sure you don’t fill the basket over 1/2 full. If you have a smaller air fryer, you may have to cook these in batches.

Cook the fries at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Shake the fries a couple of times. This is the best time to add a sprinkle of salt or your favorite seasoning.  Cook the fries for another 10 minutes.

Best Tips For Cooking Air Fryer French Fries

  • Depending on the size and shape of your air fryer basket, you may need to adjust the fry amount. You’ll want to fill the basket of your air fryer about half full no matter the size. If you have a small air fryer, you may have to cook the fries in batches.
  • It’s always a good idea to check the fries occasionally as you’re cooking because all air fryers will cook differently.
  • If you’re cooking a smaller portion of fries, you’ll want to adjust the cooking time down. Never fill your basket over halfway because they just won’t cook evenly.
  • It’s important to pause halfway through and shake the fries a couple of times to ensure even cooking.
  • We all have different fry preferences. Make sure you check your fries as they go through the second stage of cooking to ensure you reach the doneness you prefer. I enjoy mine extra crispy, but not everyone does, so adjust the time to get your desired doneness.
  • Add your own seasoning or salt to these fries at the halfway mark when you toss them.
  • You don’t need oil for this recipe. However, if you’re worried about the fries sticking, you can coat the air fryer basket with a bit of nonstick cooking spray.
