Ingredients You’ll Need To Make Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix (full recipe down below!)
- American Chili Powder (a seasoning blend of dried chiles and other spices)
- Ground Cumin
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Smoked Paprika
- Oregano
- Cracked Black Pepper
- Salt
Combine all ingredients in a bowl or jar and mix well.
Use immediately or store in the pantry for up to 12 months.
Tips For Making Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

- Add a bit of cornstarch to your meat when using this seasoning for the flavor to really stick to the meat. This simple trick ups your game in the flavor department.
- If you don’t like garlic or onion flavors, reduce the onion and garlic powder by half.
- If you want to add a little extra kick, add ½ teaspoon of crushed red peppers.
- Like a touch of sweetness? Add a teaspoon of sugar.
- Depending on the brand you use, 3-4 Tablespoons usually equals one packet of store-bought seasoning. You can always start with 2 Tablespoons and add more.
- Once you’ve used the seasoning for the first time, you can adjust the spices to match your tastes.
- Be aware that chili powders vary depending on the country they originate from. Each one varies in spices and can drastically change the flavor of your seasoning.

Skip the store-bought taco seasoning and make your own.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon American Chili Powder
- 2 Teaspoons Ground Cumin
